Our client is one of North America's largest oilfield services company with a growing presence internationally.   The company specializes in contract drilling, well servicing and strategic support services.   They have an excellent reputation in providing on-going and regular value to customers.



The General Manager is responsible for the planning and supervising of the manufacturing and fabricating activities in accordance to the business goals. The incumbent will develop plans to increase productivity, maintain and enhance quality, and mitigate issues. The Manager will improve processes with the goal of overall cost reduction, quality enhancement, on time delivery and customers satisfaction responsibilities.

  • Increase production, assets capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining current quality standards
  • Responsible for plant production, financial performance, meeting customer requirements and maintaining the orderly and productive operation of planned activities
  • Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and standards, metrics and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets
  • Lead business development activities, integral to short and long-term business growth
  • Set department objectives/KPIs and review and assess ongoing performance of direct reports
  • Identify potential risks and develop corrective/preventative actions for products and processes
  • Confers with vendors to determine part specifications and recommends the purchase of equipment and materials used in manufacturing and production
  • Prepare and adhere to annual and as required budgets and operating plans in accordance with overall company budgets and operating plan preparation cycles
  • Review and analyze capacity needs to ensure that operational schedules can be achieved
  • Provide cost analysis as required by senior management
  • Plan, organize, direct and run optimum day-to-day operations
  • Be responsible for production output, product quality and on-time delivery
  • Create and implement repeatable scoring metrics for all manufacturing and production operations
  • Implement optimal flow layouts to improve productivity
  • Confer with customers and engineering staff concerning product design and tooling to insure efficient production methods
  • Estimate production times, staffing requirements, and related costs for management decisions
  • Develop annual department training schedule
  • Set and manage production performance goals
  • Monitor accident frequency, history and analysis of injury data to target areas for improvement
  • Strict adherence to the Environmental, Health and Safety guidelines and policies
  • Participate in accident investigation program, operator start-up inspections and hazard identification programs
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with local, national, and international standards and legislation
  • Address employees’ issues and grievances
  • Build and maintain production floor morale and group commitments in order to achieve manufacturing goals and objectives
  • Track competencies of subordinates and provide leadership, development, and training as required



  • Well-versed in facility’s management best practices.
  • Demonstrated commitment to, and successes in, Health & Safety Superior leadership skills with the ability to motivate people and properly convey the Company’s mission and vision to the team.
  • He/she will have well-developed management skills with a proven track record of successfully coaching and developing employees.
  • The General Manager will be approachable with an open-door management style with excellent listening skills and compassion for understanding employee issues, concerns and ideas.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting and finance principles Proficiency in MS Office, ERP (SAP) and MRP programs.
  • Speak effectively before groups of customers or company employees.

  • Multi-disciplined experience in Manufacturing, and production environment
  • Quality related training and experience is a plus -- Six Sigma, Lean Practices, and KAIZEN.
  • Will have deep experience in the manufacturing and fabrication environment with broad exposure to inventory control, production, scheduling, quality control, and manufacturing techniques and practices.
  • Strong planning, organizational and administrative skills
  • Has demonstrated an ability to handle difficult production scheduling problems
  • Technically oriented with a good mechanical background
  • 7-10 years of Plant Management experience
  • Demonstrated ability to implement continuous improvement processes in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience as a General manager
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Industrial Engineering or relevant field
