Job Description Details:

R3D Consulting is seeking a junior to intermediate level Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) for a one (1) year contract in the Vancouver area. You will support and develop database solutions in our client’s health information practice. You will be focused with an on-call support and ensuring database tuning, implementing and testing upgrades and patches, and defining backup and recovery strategies. Your other duties will include:

  • Ensure availability and performance of production, staging and development databases;
  • Provide trend analysis to management team to enable informed decisions regarding capacity management;
  • Lead project initiatives to improve database functionality and design;
  • Migrate products from one database platform to another (i.e. MSSQL to Oracle, Oracle to PostgreSQL etc.); and
  • Collaborate with other teams (Development, Architecture, QA) to develop database systems for new products and advise on product updates.

To be considered for this role you should have:

  • 4+ years experience in Oracle v11G, v12C (Windows) and PostgreSQL;
  • Experience in the Health Industry would be valuable;
  • Solid experience troubleshooting and resolving database issues (performance, integrity, recovery, security);
  • Proven skills in monitoring, tuning and optimizing database performance (tools such as Datadog, OEM, Check MK);
  • Experience designing database solutions for new products; and
  • Experience in some or all of MySQL, MongoDB Enterprise, MS SQL Server, Remedy and at least one programming or scripting language would be assets.

While you will be able to mainly work remotely, you must be prepared to spend 1-2 days per week in one of our client’s offices in Surrey, BC, once the pandemic restrictions are lifted.
